Born This Way,
A Collection of Birth Stories

This project is a book about birthing. At its conception, I intended to focus on home birthing and why it’s becoming a popular option for pregnant women. By the time the book was finished, it was much different than I had initially imagined, such is life.

While recounting my own birth experience with my son, it dawned on me that I had never asked my mother or grandmother about theirs. I called them up and asked for detailed accounts of their birth stories. Each was wildly different, yet the same—an exciting and terrifying adventure. This book ended up being a beautiful, illustrated record of three generations of births and was an honor and pleasure to create.
